IONIQ Plug-in to be sold in USA Nationwide

Fri Jan 13, 2017 5:54 pm

Like the Sonata PHEV, the IONIQ PHEV will be sold nationwide.

However, like the Sonata, it will be stocked in California and other CARB compliant states, but will be a special-order type vehicle at other dealerships across the country unless a specific dealership chooses to stock the vehicle.

Still better than most other EVs that are only available in compliance states!

At least Hyundai says the hybrid IONIQ and 100% electric version will be readily stocked nationwide...

Here's Hyundai USA's current availability graphic:

That availability has me worried - I hope this doesn't turn into another Outlander PHEV fiasco!

The Battery Electric Ioniq was originally scheduled for third quarter of 2016, and the plug-in hybrid for Q4 of 2016. Now they are both labelled as 'winter' for the EV and Q3 2017 for the PHEV.
