Warranty details

Sat Feb 18, 2017 5:09 am

I've been around the LEAF long enough to know to ask about warranties.

I seem to recall something about the IONIQ Electric having a lifetime warranty - but can't find a source now.
And what does lifetime mean? Life of first owner? Lifetime meaning 100,000 miles or?

From e-mail sent by Hyundai to my mailbox (U.S. address, if it matters) :

The Lifetime Battery Warranty applies to all U.S. 2017 model-year IONIQ vehicles. The Lifetime Battery Warranty ensures that if the lithium-ion polymer battery fails, Hyundai will replace the battery and cover recycling costs for the old battery free of charge to the original owner. The Lifetime Battery Warranty excludes coverage for vehicles placed in commercial use (e.g., taxi, route delivery, rental, etc.).

"fails", not "performance degrades". Interesting.

Here's a handy dandy comparison chart by Gary Exner from the Oregon Electric Vehicle Association

Bah - sorry, forgot to say it doesn't include the IONIQ but is interesting to see other automakers

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know, my dealer (for lease ioniq ev) has confirmed me that it has an 8 year, <70% battery warranty.
I asked him to put this in writing so he put it in the offer (obviously at 0 cost).

Best regards,

Bart

Do you live in So. California? (I had heard that is the only place in the U.S. where the BEV model is being sold).
