2018 Hyundai Ioniq EV has 200 mile range

At the LA Auto Show this week, Hyundai’s Eco-vehicle performance group head said that the 2017 Ioniq EV’s range of 124 miles is more than most would need. However, he went on to say that it still isn’t enough, and that Hyundai has a plan to extend that EV range to more than 200 miles by 2018.

The 2017 Ioniq EV is set to launch in early 2017 at the same time as the hybrid Ioniq – and will be followed shortly after with a plug-in hybrid version of the vehicle.

200 miles by 2018 will put the Ioniq in direct competition with the Chevy Bolt EV and the upcoming Tesla Model 3; both vehicles are above the 200 miles per charge mark, and by 2018 the Model 3 should be available.
